This is an American Cricket Odyssey -
A search for civilization

Born in London 1967, currently residing in the heart of the Paris Left Bank, Mark is one of Europe's leading software architects, an itinerant traveller, an aspiring writer, and last but not least a keen cricketer.

In 2000 he helped to organise a cricket tour to California the focal point of which was a two day international community solidarity match against the extraordinary Compton Homies and Popz Cricket Club. This experience revealed not only the potential for cricket in America, but also that the realization of this potential will be based upon the enigma that is the spirit of cricket.

Will Simpson was born at the end of the 1960s on the suburban fringes of North West London. He grew up to be a sports enthusiast and freelance journalist who has written extensively on a range of subjects, from rock music to the environment to sport, for International Herald Tribune, Dazed And Confused, Classic Rock, Guitarist and Metro, amongst others.

Currently based in London, he was awarded West Of England Feature Writer of the Year in 2000, by coincidence the same year he first travelled to America as part of the California cricket tour which Mark organised.
